Some examples of how BCQ helps:

A local woman with 3 very young children

was injured and unable to care for them. BCQ volunteers helped with child care and meals until a Medicaid aide was obtained by the family.

A cancer patient was regularly driven

one-way by BCQ volunteers for chemotherapy and radiation. When BCQ became aware that his employment was jeopardized because he was too weak to take public transportation, BCQ volunteers joined his friends in driving him to work.

Yoeli, a Chassidishe teenager,

was admitted to a local psychiatric hospital. BCQ volunteers read the megilla for him and provided friendly visits and home-cooked meals that conformed to his religious needs.

Letters of thanks:

Dear Bikur Cholim of Queens,

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me when my brother was hospitalized in Long Island City. It was erev Yom Kippur and I was flying in from Arizona.

I had no idea where I could find a shul, or where to buy kosher food for the fast, or where to find a motel close to the shul and the hospital. You came through so quickly and fully that I can only be amazed.

May Hashem reward your wonderful organization.

Tizku lemitzvos.

Sincerely,
